Amami - Kinsakubaru 金作原原生林

I joined a walking and canoeing tour on January 16th. It was a beautiful day. We went to Kinsakubaru forest in the morning.
There were many Hikagehego, big ferns.

金作原探検＋マングローブカヌーツアーに参加した日、天気は晴れで風がほとんどなし。午前中は金作原の原生林へ。ツアーの車はどんどん山の中を進んで行く。ほとんどが常緑樹の山々は、上から眺めるとブロッコリー畑のよう。
ここには、ヒカゲヘゴがたくさん。


The movie, Godzilla, was shot around here.
この辺りでは、ゴジラの撮影で使われたとか。


We walked with our guide on the path for about one hour.
緑の中をガイドの話を聞きながら、約１時間お散歩。


Zuakaaobato (green pigeon) was eating nuts and looking at us on the tree. 20 minutes later, it was still there.
ズアカアオバトが、木の上で食事中。約20分後に戻ってきた時も、まだ食べてました。


Kuwazuimo.
大きなクワズイモもありました。


Okinawaurajirogashi (oak). It had buttress root.
オキナワウラジロガシ。大きな木で、根が板状の“板根”になっていました。
ここで、折り返し。歩いてきた道を戻ります。


Most of trees had green leaves all year in Amami. Some trees changed their leaves’ color.
たまに紅葉した木がありました。

We left Kinsakubaru. Our guide stopped the car on a cliff, we looked at the beautiful sea.
One of us said “ What is the spray?” Our guide was surprised and told us “A whale is jumping. I’ve never seen them such close to the beach.” The whale jumped several times, then disappeared.

金作原を後にして、名瀬に戻る途中。停車して、みんなで海を眺めていました。きれいな海の色。
その時、一人が「あの水しぶきは、なあに？」と言い出しました。
それはクジラがジャンプしたもの。こんな浜に近いところでクジラが見られるのは珍しいとか。しばらくジャンプを繰り返し、やがて見えなくなりました。
